About 20:00hrs on Monday, Shazam Bacchus, 23 of No. 78 Village, Corentyne, was awaiting transportation
to go home. He was standing in front of his employer’s home on the No. 72 Village Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice, when he was shot.
Bacchus, a sales clerk in the Skeldon Market, was standing on the road when a black motor car containing two occupants approached him, driving slowly. One of the men shouted out to him ‘Hi’, before a shot was fired in his direction. The bullet struck him on his left side chest.
He collapsed and had to be rushed to the Skeldon Hospital before being transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he remains warded.
The investigation is continuing.
