The basketball action which was originally set to bounce off last Sunday will now get started today in Berbice. Six teams are set to take part in the competition with the teams being divided into two groups.
Group A will be made up of Fyrish Black Sharks, Rose Hall Town Jammers and The East Canje Knights. While group ‘B’ will comprise of New Amsterdam Warriors, Smythfield Rockers and the lone team from West Berbice Ithaca Hardliners.
The competition will be played on a round robin basis at the preliminary stages with the top two teams from each group emerging to contest the semifinals. The winner of group ‘A’ will take on the runner up in group B and vise versa.
The final is set for December 26 at a venue to be decided.
The top two teams will receive cash incentives and medals. The most valuable player will also be presented with a trophy. The competition gets bouncing today with Fyrish Black Sharks taking on Rose Hall Jammers at the Area H ground. (Samuel Whyte)
