The Upper Demerara football Association (UDFA) launched its yearend football
tournament on Saturday during a simple ceremony which was conducted at the Watooka Complex. The tournament dubbed UDFA SUPA 16 GT Beer Cup will feature 14 clubs registered with the association and two teams from Madhia and Lethem respectively.
According to a release from the organisers, they believe that the inclusion of the invited teams should provide a higher standard of play within the competition, while providing keen rivalry among the participating teams.
Over $3million in cash and prizes will be up for grabs and according to Brand Manager Errol Nelson, the Company is pleased to be given the opportunity to partner with the association in helping to promote and develop the sport.
President of the Association Collis Griffith, in his response said the UDFA in its effort to develop and promote the sport is quite satisfied that it is fulfilling its mandate and was pleased with the support offered by Banks DIH and a number of other sponsors.
He encouraged all participating teams to give of their best and encouraged all of Linden to come out in their numbers to witness the games.
