The Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC) is advising the general public that as the countdown to Christmas is underway and postage of parcels to overseas destinations is peaking, they are required to present to the Customs officials some valid form of identification such as a passport or national identification card as well as a valid proof of address.
Customers are urged to pay strict attention to this advisory in order to avoid inconvenience and save time.
The entity also noted that parcels will not be accepted for postage after 15:00 hrs on working days, Monday through Friday.
Proof of address accepted by the Post Office includes GT&T bill; GPL bill or a bank statement not older than three months prior to the date on which the parcel is being posted.
The GPOC further wishes to advise clients that bills from the Guyana Water Inc. (GWI) will not be accepted as proof of address, since such bills do not bear the Post Office Corporation’s date stamp.
