Dear Sir,
Allow me a chance to extend congratulations to our country’s sport department for bringing us joy at a time when the political climate brings us sorrow.
First let me congratulate our national Rugby team for again bringing home another first. Peter Green and his team of executives and players should be rewarded.
Secondly, it would be remiss of me if I didn’t extend congratulations to President of the Guyana Boxing Association Steve Ninvalle; I understand Mr. Ninvalle created history by becoming the first person from CARICOM to be elected to the Executive Committee of AIBA.
This is indeed an achievement not only for Guyana but for the whole of CARICOM. Our rugby team and Ninvalle have placed Guyana on the map for things that are positive. At a time when this country is wincing from political fighting and one recoils from reading the daily pot shots that our leaders take at each other, we can still find solace in the achievement of sports.
R. Trim
