Guyana’s successful three-member South American Youth Championships team returned earlier
yesterday morning with Athletics Association of Guyana Vice-President, Gavin Hope, receiving them at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timerhi.
Running Braves’ Jason Yaw and Natricia Hooper represented Guyana with Yaw setting a record in the 400m with his Personal Best 46.79 performance. Yaw erased the old mark of 47.46s when he took on South America in Columbia last Saturday.
Meanwhile, Hooper also had success when she ran an impressive 55.05 seconds to clinch silver in the Girls’ 400m race. The Running Brave Athletics Club Coach, Julian Edmonds was sent to Columbia with the athletes on the three-member team.
The athletes and officials from the athletics association paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Dr. Frank Anthony yesterday.
