An eighteen- year old farmer from West Ruimveldt was charged with two counts of simple larceny yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
It is alleged that on November 18 at Leopold Street Charlestown, Georgetown, Joshua Joseph stole one stereo set valued $150,000, property of Jermaine Peters. It is also alleged that on October 16, also at Leopold St Georgetown he stole one DVD player worth $20,000 also the property of Peters. Joseph pleaded guilty to both charges.
Police Prosecutor Dinero Jones told the court that the defendant lives at the home of Joshua Joseph at 69 Leopold Street. The court heard that on November 18, Joseph returned home and discovered the DVD player missing and asked the defendant about its whereabouts. The accused said he took the missing DVD player to be repaired. Peters reported the matter to the police and Joseph was arrested and charged. Magistrate Ann McLennan sentenced the accused to 24 months on each count.
