– Division III competition starts with win for Guardians
Melanie Patriots topped Knights Wednesday night inside the Cliff Anderson’s Sports Hall in a bottom-of-the-table first
division encounter when the third Phillip George Legacy tournament continued with a mid-week clash.
Patriots beat Knights 63-59 with Floyd Arthur pouring in 21 points. Owan Walton had 15 points for Knights. Both Patriots and Knights will exit the Division I competition based on their ratio of wins and losses as the competition heats up on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Plaisance Guardians played out of its mind to beat the more favored Pepsi Sonics in the Division III level of the competition. Guardians won 62-59 with Colwyn Nurse putting up 24 points; Kerwin Jackson had 15 points for Pepsi Sonics.
