Nikkoloi Smith imposed his speed, skill and ball-control on Eagles Sunday night when he led
the Plaisance team to victory in the Pepsi Sonics Under-23 Five-a-side competition at the National Gymnasium.
Plaisance clipped Eagles’ wings for a 23-21 victory in the outdoor competition. Smith and guard Kelvin Yorrick ran riot against Eagles with Smith sending a defender grazing along the concrete surface with a crossover dribble.
Smith ended with a game high nine points for Plaisance. Rolston Richmond had eight points in the losing effort for Eagles. Smith’s absence from Colts, which is his club team, obviously forced them into third place.
Colts won with a walkover win against the Pepsi Sonics. For their victory, Plaisance took home $50,000, which Southland International sponsored while Smith also won the three-point contest that Giftland Office Max sponsored to the tune of $10,000.
Automotive Essentials and Antarctic Maintenance and Repairs were the sponsors of the second and third place prizes.
