The police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred about 02:15 hours yesterday at Montrose Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara, and resulted in the death of Bennette Beveny, 57 years, of Beterverwagting.
According to the police, their investigations have revealed that Beveny, along with pillion rider Alicia Penheiro, of Enterprise, also on the East Coast Demerara, was proceeding along the Railway Embankment on a motorcycle, when a motor lorry which was proceeding in the opposite direction allegedly swerved into his path and resulted in a collision.
Beveny and Penheiro sustained severe injuries and were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where Beveny was pronounced dead on arrival.
Penheiro was admitted.
The driver of the motor lorry is in police custody assisting with the investigations
