Dear Editor
I have been reliably informed that the Guyana Police Force is under pressure to pursue and imprison priority anti-government critics like Glen Lall, Freddie Kissoon, Raphael Trotman and many others.
The time has come for Guyanese from all walks of life to arise from our slumber, remove our heads from the sand in which it has been stuck in for some time and help our country to rise. We need to support good people who want to do good for our country, not by hurting and killing others, but by working together. Why the PPP is hell bent on reclaiming parliamentary majority, even if it means it has to destroy its detractors and critics instead of focusing its energies and partnering and collaboration is anyone’s guess. What is clear is that the PPP Government is stuck in a 1960s time warp.
The world has changed, collaboration and partnering for national development is no longer a choice, it is mandatory. The concept of power distribution has also changed. The State is not the epicenter of power, and the more the PPP administration tries to hold on to this old concept of power, the more violence, murders, fabricated scandals and dastardly acts Guyana will experience. One thing is certain, those in the PPP Government and party administration are shooting themselves in the foot. The more they use political pressure and death threats, the more they abuse the power and ethics of public offices such as the GRA is the more unlikely tourists and investors will come. This will in turn have devastating effects on the quality of life people experience in Guyana and will also produce even more violence and crime. We need to really see what is happening around us and the persons involved and understand their rationale for provoking this country to instability.
