Four men were remanded yesterday for the murder of electrical engineer, Abdool Saleem
Aziz, who was shot dead in Prashad Nagar last Sunday.
Glenroy Griffith, 21, Jarrell Ward, 26, Julian Mack and Justin Griffith, 36, allegedly robbed and gunned down the 23-year-old engineer at his Lot 33 Delhi Street, Prashad Nagar home. They appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, yesterday.
The case was prosecuted by Inspector Joel Ricknauth. The accused, who were unrepresented, were remanded until October 27, when they will appear before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
Police had said that Aziz, a former employee of Beharry Group of Companies, was shot and robbed by gunmen as he was about to enter his premises.
According to reports, the University of Guyana graduate was shot four times. He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) but acceded to his injuries shortly after.
A release stated that police arrested a suspect in Sophia on Wednesday, and that further investigations led to the arrest of three other men in Sophia. Two unlicensed .32 pistols with a total of 21 rounds were found.
