The Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) has announced the names of 36 players to commence preparations for the upcoming NACRA Sevens Championship which will be played on December 3-4 in Mexico.
According to a release from the GRFU the names were arrived at following a meeting with the selection panel that was held on October 20 and attended by S. Grant-Stuart, Laurie Adonis and Ret. Colonel John Lewis.
There is still an opportunity for other players to be added to the training squad depending on their performances at the Caribs’ RFC Anniversary Sevens due to be run off on Sunday, at the National Park.
Training days will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 16:30 hours and Sundays from 09:00 hours.
Overseas-based players called are: Vallon Adams, Claudius Butts, Richard Staglon, Peabo Hamilton, Ronald Mayers, Dominic Lespierre, Isijah Allen and Kevin McKenzie.
The locally-based players are: Theo Henry, Carl Lewis, Kevon David, Akeem Fraser, O’Neal Charles, Mark Sobers, Avery Corbin, Dwayne Schroeder, Jermaine Prowell, Wayne King, Wayne Hudson, Ryan Gonsalves, Leon Greaves, Jason Tyrell, Christopher Singh, Filon Thompson, Rickford Cummings, Troy Bascom, Blaise Bayley, Jason DeFrietas, Edward Roach, Rondell McArthur, Godfrey Broomes, Ryan Dey, Lance Adonis, Ossie McKenzie, Frank Joseph and Grantley Williams.
