Mother Teresa, a great humanitarian, once said “It’s not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving.”
Guyanese abroad love the children in Guyana as demonstrated by the $1million donated towards building and installing playground equipment for the Guyana Relief Council in Georgetown, Guyana and Bless the Children Home on the East Coast Demerara, Guyana.
Attorney Gail Seeram, founder of the GAIL Foundation, will host a ribbon cutting ceremony and blessing of the three-seated swing, slide and newly furnished playroom at the Guyana Relief Council Shelter on Friday, October 17, at 3:00 p.m.
Mrs. Yvonne Hinds, wife of Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, will join Ms. Seeram during the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Bless the Children Home, an orphanage in Industry, also received from the GAIL Foundation a three-seated swing, two seesaws and a slide. The children currently at this home now have an outdoor play area where they can forget about their individual situation and just play like children.
Ms. Seeram will host a ribbon cutting ceremony and blessing on October 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. The director of Bless the Children Home, Pastor Surujpaul, will preside over the blessing ceremony.
The Guyana Relief Council Shelter (GRC) provides temporary housing for families that lose their homes due to flood, fire and high winds. With the donation of the playground equipment by the GAIL Foundation, children who are housed at the GRC will have a play area inside with books and educational toys and will have equipment outside to run, jump and laugh.
The success of these small projects is a reminder that collectively, Guyanese can come together and achieve good for humanity. The common goal here was to provide playground equipment to displaced children who deserve the “gift of play”.
Ms. Seeram and the GAIL Foundation Inc., strive to reach out to the Guyanese Diaspora and provide opportunities for them to invest in the lives of children in Guyana.
The monetary value of donations equaled nearly $1M and were given by Attorney Gail Seeram, Ivy Swammy Moonasar from Orlando’s Caribbean SuperCenter, Vani & John Lowton, Ralph Seeram, Shameer & Sandy Hassan from Golden Krust-Kissimmee, Vejay Bhoopsingh, Creig Camacho, Powerline Sounds HD, & Sabrina Ramjit, P.S. Freight/SeaFreight – Anita & Paul Singh, Liquor Master-Apopka, FL, Rali-JungleVibes.tv, Ian & Desiree Ally, Lamont Chichester, Shree R. Persaud, Laura Cosgrove, Timehri Restaurant-Orlando, FL, Patricia Soman Turner, Deoanand Shivbaran, Lynn Ramdin, George & Oswena Lyking, and Rebecca Black.
Local Guyanese such as Mr. Kris Shiwram from C&V Caribbean Shipping, Mr. Gregory Rambarran from DTV Channel 8 and Mr. Surendra Rookman donated their time and skills in assisting to complete these projects.
