Outstanding performances by Ershad Ali and Omesh Dhanram guided Ruimveldt to a 20-run
victory over Uprising in the second semi final of the East Bank Demerara Cricket Association (EBDCA)/Neville Sarjoo Memorial T20 tournament on Sunday last.
Ali slammed nine fours and three sixes in a top score of 57, while Dhanram smashed an unbeaten 53 (4×4,3×6) and Tony Mootoo 25 not out (3×4) as Ruimveldt posted a challenging 175-6 off their allotted overs, batting first at Everest Cricket Club. Steven Jowahir claimed 3-37.
In reply, Christopher Radnandan fashioned an attacking 62 at the top of the order to set his team on their way, but Ali kept Ruimveldt hopes alive with a few quick wickets. Roopnarine Ramsundaar hit a robust 37 (3×4,3×6) and Jowahir chipped in with 16, but Ali kept the pressure on with steady bowling as Uprising finished on 155-8 in 20 overs. Ali bagged 6-16.
Ruimveldt will now take on North Soesdyke, who gained a walk over from Diamond, in the final on a date and venue to be announced.
