Guyana and West Indies middle order batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul, is one of several local cricket stars who will be on show at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground tomorrow night, when Coach Garvin Nedd host his T20 Birthday Bash between a Rest Team and Coach Nedd DCC XI.
The day’s activity will involve a bar-b-que, Kiddy cricket Festival, Ladies Open and Men Over-40 softball and the young brigade of the club engaging each other in a match, with the action culminating at 19:30hrs with the T20 fixture.
The elder Chanderpaul will be amongst the list of players representing the Coach Nedd DCC XI which will have as it captain, former Guyana and West Indies opener Travis Dowlin, while former West Indies fast bowlers Reon King and Colin Stuart will also feature on that team.
Regional record holder for most wickets Mahendra Nagamootoo and off-spinning all rounder Lennox Cush will also make up the Dowlin led DCC lineup that also includes Christopher Barnwell, Jonathan Foo and former national Under-19 skipper Andre Percival.
The Rest Team will be led by Paul Wintz and have amongst it ranks, players in the caliber of Narsingh Deonarine, Steven Jacobs, Raj Nanan, Roderick Lovell, Jermaine Neblett, Ricardo Adams and Amir Khan.
Admission to the venue is $200, with drinks, bar-b-que and lots of refreshments on sale, while a Kid’s Corner will also be in place. The final 11 for both sides will be chosen from:
Coach Nedd DCC XI: Travis Dowlin (Captain), Trevon Griffith, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Christopher Barnwell, Jonathan Foo, Andre Percival, Kemol Savory, Anthony Adams, Lennox Cush, Reon King, Colin Stuart, Mahendra Nagamootoo, Seon Daniels and Brian Sattaur. Ian John is the Manager and Esuan Crandon the coach.
Rest Team from: Paul Wintz (Captain), Shemroy Barrington, Robin Bacchus, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Kevon Boodie, Narsingh Deonarine, Rajendra Chandrika, Steven Jacobs, Kemo Paul, Ricardo Adams, Amir Khan, Jermaine Neblett, Raj Nannan and Roderick Lovell, with Robert ‘Pacer’ Adonis as Manager and Clive Grimmond the coach.
