The Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) is set to host the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) in a feature 50-over cricket match at the No. 69 Vikings Cricket Ground on Sunday October 26, 2014.
The event which is expected to feature a number of big names including former West Indies Captain Ramnaresh Sarwan, will be used as a fundraiser for the UCCA and will also provide cricket lovers in the Upper Corentyne area an opportunity to see some of the country’s national players in action.
The GCC team, apart from Sarwan, expected to include a number of national players the likes of Robin Bacchus, Vishal Singh and Leon Johnson.
The UCCA team will be playing as the UCCA President’s XI and will feature some seven guest players from outside of Upper Corentyne area, however, the names have not been released as yet. But the players would be drawn from clubs such as Young Warriors, Rose Hall Town, Chesney and Albion.
The final squad for both teams will be finalized shortly. The UCCA is urging cricket lovers come out in their numbers and help a worthy cause. (Samuel Whyte)
