DEAR EDITOR,
The Guyana Police Force is responding to a Letter to the Editor published in the Kaieteur News of Wednesday September 24, 2014, under the caption “Bribery and Cover-ups”.
The Force wishes to state that on September 12, 2014, at about 1100h. Naitram Doobay, a teacher of Pamona Secondary School, took two students of the said school to Aurora Police Station and reported that the students were smoking something. However the students denied that they were engaged in such activity. The teacher did not seize the article the students were smoking.
The police made further enquiries, but no useful information was provided. The children were therefore released and the teacher was advised to inform the School Welfare Officer since there was no evidence that a breach of the law had been occasioned.
