Residents in Berbice are showering praise on police in the Ancient County after a notorious bandit and an accomplice were nabbed and charged with multiple robberies.
Anil ‘Black Shirt’ Kumar, 42, of No. 62 Village Squatting Area, Corentyne, who has been wreaking havoc in the Central and Upper Corentyne areas and his alleged accomplice Satesh Jainauth, called ‘Fat Boy’ 18, of No. 55 Village Squatting Area, Corentyne, were yesterday charged with two counts of robbery under arms.
The men are accused of robbing businessman Dalchand Rampersaud, 34 and his wife Alexis Isaacs, 33 both of No. 60 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, on August 26th last, armed with guns and knives.
They appeared yesterday at the Whim Magistrate’s Court, before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh and were remanded to jail until October 1, when the matter will be called again.
