In the absence of defending champions the Guyana Defence Force, participants, University of Guyana, Pepsi Hornets, Police and Yamaha Caribs will be looking to take full advantage of the champions nonappearance when the Banks DIH One-Day Sevens Tournament is held today, at the National Park.
The tournament is one of the most anticipated events on the Guyana Rugby Football Union’s calendar and President of the Union Peter Green stated the Banks Sevens would be used to identify players to be selected to the national squad which will commence training shortly as Guyana aim to recapture the NACRA Sevens title when the competition is held later this year in Mexico.
According to a release, three women’s teams representing Hornets, Caribs and Police will be part of the day’s activities. Scrum off is 10:30 hrs today with the traditional March Past of teams followed by remarks from officials.
Trophies and Medals would be awarded to the winning teams.
