Following two 50-over trial matches that were held recently at the Imam Bacchus Sports Complex ground, Affiance, the Essequibo Cricket Board (ECB) selectors have shortlisted an 18-man squad for the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Senior Inter County 50-Over and 4-day tournaments. The final 14 will be named shortly.
Anthony Adams XI defeated Royan Fredericks XI by one wicket in the first match. Fredericks XI batted first and were bowled out for 169 in 36 overs. Ricardo Adams cracked 36 and Kevon Boodie 33, Adams bagged 5-15. Adams XI replied with 170-9 in 31.3 overs. Norman Fredericks led with 42; Ricardo Adams snared 4-25.
Adams XI triumphed by 90 runs in the second encounter. Adams XI posted 182 all out in 45.4 overs with the skipper scoring 59 and Eknauth Persaud 39. Ricardo Adams claimed 3-39 and Norman Fredericks 2-19. Fredericks XI were bowled out for 90 in 25 overs in response. Tulsieram Premnauth made 33, Royston Alkins grabbed 5-11 and Anthony Adams 3-25.
The 18- man squad reads; Royan Fredericks, Norman Fredericks, Wayne Osborne, Kevon Boodie, Denzil Harris, Tulsieram Premnauth, Greyson Paul, Ricardo Peters, Ricardo Adams, Anthony Adams, Royston Alkins, Vijay Surujpaul, Anthony Ifill, Hemchand Persaud, Eknauth Persaud, Mark Tyrell, Brian Hubbert and Mark Gonsalves.
