The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) on Thursday last concluded the Georgetown, East Bank and
West Demerara leg of the Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket Camp with a simple ceremony held at Thirst Park where outstanding participants received trophies.
The camp, which lasted for four days, served to impart the basic knowledge of the game to the youths.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, GCB Territorial Development Officer (TDO) Colin Stuart said he was impressed by the coaches’ work ethics, although they were somewhat hampered by the rain. Stuart stated that the coaches were able to discover a number of talented students during the camp adding that the players will be afforded age group cricket within their various schools to enhance their skills.
During the camp, teachers from the various participating schools were equipped with the necessary knowledge of the sport so that they can further educate their students.
The participants that received prizes were, most promising fast bowlers Prince Forde (male) and Jeneelia Benn (female), best batters Yesenia Andrews (female), Satesh Persaud and Alex Gouveia (males), top all-rounders Varuni Pitamber (female) and Lorenzo Tracy (male) and most outstanding spinners Michelle Marks (female) and Kevin Ramascindo (male).
