Dear Editor,
To be informed about what is taking place in our beloved Guyana, a place that I call my home, I keep reading the daily newspapers and looking at the News on TV.
I must confess that the information I receive leaves me to become very unhappy and concerned as to where we as a people are going. To get peace of mind I have resorted to reading the Bible and praying to God to help all the People of Guyana.
Today I have been reading PROVERBS Chapter 29: and I wish to point to a few verses that struck me forcibly.
(a) When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice, but when the wicked beareth rule the people mourn.
Proverbs Chapter 29 verse 4
(b) The righteous considereth the cause cause of the poor; but the wicked regarded not to know it.
Proverbs Chapter 29 verse 7.
© If a ruler hearkens to lies all his servants are wicked.
Proverbs Chapter 29 verse 12
(c) Where there is no vision the people perish, but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
Proverbs Chapter 29 verse 18.
(d) Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own Soul; he heareth cursing, and bewareth it not.
Proverbs Chapter 29 verse 24.
I am not accusing anybody but I am sure these portions of Scripture that I have alluded to do expose the failings of those who purport to represent us in parliament and elsewhere. The time is now ripe for all of us to consider the route our beloved Country should go.
All I am asking is that we as a people pause and consider where we are going.
