More than 21 students were introduced to the intricacies of table tennis when
Payless Variety Store in collaboration with ITTF 1&2 certified coach, Muniram Persaud, hosted a one week Summer Camp at the Hugh Anderson Sports Complex, Goed Fortuin WBD, August 4-10 last.
Students between 5-17 years were placed in several categories and introduced to the basic skill aspects of the sport and were subsequently given an opportunity to apply their new knowledge when the organizers staged a tournament on the final day of activities.
Those results are as follows: 10 years & Under Open: Alexandre DeAbreu (1st), Krystian Sahadeo (2nd) and Jaden Dipchan (3rd). 15 years and Under Open: Jonathan Lilliah (1st), Nicolas Jordan (2nd), Darren Manohar (3rd). 18 years and Under Open: Samuel Persaud (1st), Renaldo Griffith (2nd) Jonathan Anderson (3rd).
Samuel Persaud copped the Most Valuable Player prize while Moses Persaud and Dravid Manohar were voted Most Improved and Most Discipline Players respectively.
