DEAR EDITOR,
Significant tales have been and continue to be told to the people by the political leaders of the ruling cabal who have clearly used the political system to improve the image and status of their party at the expense of the constituents they serve. These politicians are so dishonest that no one believes them anymore.
The masses are clamouring for the no-confident motion to pass in Parliament because they have had enough and want an end to the ruling cabal. A few months ago, the President stated that he will not assent to the President’s Benefits and Amendment Bill which was passed in Parliament two years ago. And although he recently stated that he has not seen the Bill yet, he said that it should be contested in the Courts.
Dishonesty has outnumbered and overshadowed honesty in the PPP ranks by a ratio of 5:1, thus dwarfing the party’s abilities to develop the country and create employment for the youths and those who want to work.
Following the death of Cheddi Jagan, Mrs. Janet Jagan told the nation that Cde. Cheddi had asked her to “carry on” and this paved the way for her elevation to the Presidency and head of that party. Ask any Guyanese, save and except for the small Freedom House cabal, if they believed those words? The overwhelming majority will say no.
It is our opinion that it was a plain and simple untruth to wrestle power away from Moses Nagamootoo and Ralph Ramkarran. As a result of this political farce, Guyana has been set back 15 years because of the poor quality of governance under Jagdeo whom she single-handedly picked to succeed her. Jagdeo who was a political neophyte had no leadership skills and did not know how to mould the nation. He made a complete mess of the country. The outcome of his misrule and gross executive incompetence has resulted in corruption at all levels of the government, the raping of the treasury for personal benefits, and the pauperizing of the poor and the working class, whom the regime has permanently abandoned. Not to mention the crooked and corrupt schemes to take the best government lands for themselves and rich friends and to sell off state properties to their friends and relatives at far below the market value.
Fast forward to July 2014 and the President has not done anything to reduce corruption and has not even fulfilled his promise to grant a TV licence to the people of Linden. Here again we hear him flip-flop on the barefaced corrupt practice that took place at NCN. Did the President listen to himself when he said that the two individuals have resigned? How can the Guyanese people believe him?
The preoccupation with preserving the Freedom House gang and friends and relatives of the PPP has turned the party into a political force that is no longer credible. We use the word credible since it is our belief that the opposition has a fighting chance to capture the plurality votes from the PPP if they coalesce.
The ruling cabal is disconnected from the people and thus would find themselves in opposition at the next election, but this will only happen if commonsense prevails between APNU and the AFC. It would be a grave mistake and great disservice to the people for the opposition to pass the no-confidence motion and then contest the election as separate parties. We hope they would put the country and people first and do the right thing.

Where is the BETTER MANAGEMENT/RENEGOTIATION OF THE OIL CONTRACTS you promised Jagdeo?
