The North Essequibo Cricket Committee (NECC) as part of its mandate will be conducting a one week cricket camp under the guidance of Level 11 Coach Elroy Stephney. The camp will cater for youths between the ages of 13-19 and will educate participants on the basic skills of batting, bowling and fielding.
They will also be exposed to the laws of the game which will be imparted to them by qualified Umpires. Social and educational sessions will form part of the programme. The target areas will be from Reliance to Devonshire Castle with the camp scheduled to begin on Monday.
The NECC is encouraging youths to attend so that they can become better players. After the camp, matches will be held for the players to ascertain their level of preparedness and grasp of the game.
Meanwhile, President of the East Coast Cricket Board and former Vice President of the Guyana Cricket Board Bissoondyal Singh has donated two helmets to the committee. Interested persons can contact Coach Elroy Stephney on 621 8484 or Prince Holder on 627 6990 for further details.
