Defending champions Mae’s Boys and Redeemer Girls recorded wins on the opening day of the 17th Annual End of School Year Primary Schools Overhand Windball Cricket Champions Trophy Georgetown Zone which was played recently, at the National Park.

Mae’s beat Rama Krishna by 10 wickets. Rama Krishna making their return after a six-year absence compiled 40-4 off the allotted 5 overs; Tromond Eversley hitting a top score of 19. Elisha Bobb grabbed 2wickets. Mae’s in reply reached 44-0, with Yudistair Persaud stroking 31.
West Ruimveldt beat newcomers Sophia by 7 wickets.
Sophia batted first and ended on 37-2 with Ras Telford 18, being the top scorer. Jonathon Barton picked up 2 wickets. West Ruimveldt, runner-up in last year’s competition secured victory after finishing on 39-3 in 4.4 overs with Barton smashing 19. Cidel Prescod 2wickets.
Sophia defeated Redeemer by 5 wickets. Redeemer 39-5, Trevon Ephiram 12. Sophia 42-5, Joshua Thompson 22, Emanuel Pompey 18.
Girls
Redeemer beat Rama Krishna by 22 runs. Redeemer made 63-0 batting first, Jasmine Jones 34 (4×4 2×6, Cindy Mohamed supported with 26. Rama Krishna 41-2, Precious Brusche 21. Cindy Mohamed picked up 2 wickets.
St. Pius trounced West Ruimveldt by 5 wickets. West Ruimveldt made 35-3, Varshanie Didas 10. Former champions St. Pius replied with 37-5, Carlisa Rugders 12.
Lower East Bank Demerara zone also played at the said venue.
St. Anne’s defeated Grove by 8 wickets in the girl’s semi finals. Grove 56-4, Rabecca Isaacs 21.|
Saint Anne’s reached 59-2, Collette Welch 18, Shamika Roberts 12.
Eccles squeezed past Covent Garden by 1 run. Eccles made 52-3, Brianna Inniss 21 (4×4), Shaunica Moses 15. Vanessa Persud 2-3. Covent Garden 51-3; Onika Persaud 12, Vashaney Prasad 11, and Nazeema Waheed 10. B Inniss 2-10.
Saint Anne’s will play in both finals when action continues shortly.
Boys – Quarter final – Peters Hall 35-1, Jaikun Craig 16, Kevin Rambaran 14. Saint Anne’s 36-1, Tyron Younge 12.
