A gold mining pit of Guyana’s interior has claimed another life, this time that of 17 year old Clive Bovell of Melanie Damishana Squatting Area on the East Coast of Demerara.
Bovell’s body was dug up hours after he was buried alive when the walls of the pit he was working in came crashing down around 11:00 hours yesterday.
The incident occurred a few miles from Madhia.
Family members did not have much information about the incident when this newspaper contacted them last night.
They told Kaieteur News that they received a telephone message that the teenager had been trapped in a pit.
“That’s all we know,” a relative stated.
A senior police official last night confirmed the incident, adding that Bovell’s body was at the Madhia Hospital mortuary.
