…woman escorted out of compound under the cover of night
The National Communications Network (NCN) on Tuesday sacked its Administrative Officer.
The reasons cited were corrupt practices and dishonesty.
The woman, Angulie Paruag, had recently returned from leave, having completed one year on the job.
However, Information Liaison Officer to the President, Kwame McCoy claimed that the woman was on probation.
She reportedly left with a driver and equipment for the NCN facility at La Parfaite Harmonie but never reached the location.
When questioned, the driver said that he was told to proceed to Diamond where Paruag lived.
A search of her home was ordered and conducted by the security.
There they found NCN property, some accumulated over a period of time.
The Management attempted to keep the sacking secret. They waited until nightfall to escort Paruag from the compound. No Management person was willing to comment.
Contacted yesterday, NCN’s Chief Executive Officer, Molly Hassan, confirmed that NCN has parted ways with Paruag.
She said too that Paruag was asked to leave because her probation period was up and her performance during the stint was unsatisfactory.
Hassan said that while the property located at her home contributed to the sacking, it was not the main reason.
Hassan maintained that the main reason was the woman’s unsatisfactory performance which ultimately led to the decision being taken by the senior management.
According to Hassan, as it relates to NCN’s property being found at Paruag’s residence it was a matter that was dealt with internally and the police would not be called in.
Paruag is the third senior manager to be asked to sever ties with NCN in recent times. General Manager Mohamed ‘Fuzzy’ Sattaur and Martin Goolsarran were sacked over a corrupt transaction.
