The 18-year-old driver involved in the accident that claimed the lives of three persons on Wednesday evening will appear at the Whim Magistrate’s Court today where he is expected to be slapped with multiple charges.
Driving a grey Toyota Spacio, PPP 5482, the suspect reportedly sped through the Corentyne Highway and in the process three girls were killed, and two other persons were injured.
Dead are Latoya Bagot, 18, her sister Wanita Bagot, 15, both of Lot 16 Phillipi, Corentyne, and their niece, 3-year-old Shemaine Cort. Injured were Delroy Parks, 28, of Cromarty Village, and Matthew Mc Bean, 19, of Number 35 Village, a student of the University of Guyana Berbice Campus (UGBC). The incident occurred around 18:30 hrs.

The suspect related to police that he thought he had hit animals on the road.
Post mortem examinations are expected to be performed today.
Meanwhile, Matthew Mc Bean’s condition has reportedly stabilized. He is a patient at the New Amsterdam Hospital.
