Baldeo takes 7 for 5 for Albion
No70 Young Stars is the first team to reach the quarterfinals of the 2014 Elizabeth Styles Under 19 50 Over Cricket Competition for teams in Berbice.
They earned the right after defeating Skeldon Community Centre in their final zone D (Upper Corentyne) preliminary match to complete a clean sweep of that zone. Opening batsman Parmeshwar Chatterpaul, topscored with 60, while Berbice under-19 allrounder, Viendra Gooniah and Thameshwar Kumar made 32 each to lead them to a total of 245 in 43 overs. Gooniah came back with his leg spin to take 3 for 18 from 9 overs to help bowl out Skeldon for a modest 92.
In a zone C (Lower Corentyne West) match, Berbice allrounder Balchand Baldeo had an amazing figure of 7 wickets for 5 runs in 3 overs, one of which was a maiden for Albion Community Centre who bowled out Chesney for an embarrassing 24 runs in 6.3 overs. Albion won the match in 1.4 overs without losing a wicket.

At Skeldon, No 70 Young Stars beat Skeldon Community Centre by 153 runs. Batting first, No 70 Young Stars made a challenging 245 in 43 overs. Parmeshwar Chatterpaul topscored with 60 runs. He was supported by Viendra Gooniah and Thameshwar Kumar with 32 runs each, while Totaram Rajaram with 3 for 53 and Deon Esau 2 for 38 were the pick of the Skeldon bowlers. Skeldon in reply were shot out for 92 in 28.1 overs with only Deon Esau offering any resistance with 37. Gooniah took 3 for 18, Mohamed Deochand 2 for 14 and Kumar 2 for 20.
At the famous Albion Sports Complex, Albion Community Centre destroyed the hapless Chesney by 10 wickets. Chesney batted first and made 24 in 6.3 overs. They had no answer for off spinning allrounder Balchand Baldeo who took an amazing 7 wickets for 5 runs. Kavendra Persaud supported with 2 for 8. Albion CC rushed to 27 without loss in 1.4 overs to win by 10 wickets. Adrian Sukhwa made 23 not out.
