A man and his wife were last evening struck from their motorcycle by a car allegedly drag racing with another at the Atlanticville East Coast Public (ECD) Public Road.
The injured woman, Sharmela Baksh, 29 of Section K Campbellville, recounted that she and her husband were returning from a visit to her grandmother at Cove and John when the incident occurred.
According to the woman, her husband was riding at a normal speed limit “and something just come and hit us from behind, drove away and we just spin out of control.”
She credited her husband, Nizam Ishahak, 52, for doing his best to try to maintain control of the motorcycle, but he fell on his head.
She explained that he suffered a huge puncture to the forehead and a number of lacerations to the face.
According to the woman, he was unconscious for a few minutes.
“He get more hit than me, I just got some bruise,” said Baksh.
And while still on the scene she witnessed another car losing control and plunging into the ditch a few feet from where she and her husband were struck down.
Meanwhile, at the junction of Camp and Lamaha Streets, a taxi driver in a Toyota Raum with the licence plate HC 1739, reportedly ran through the red traffic light and slammed into another car, causing his vehicle to overturn.
The taxi was heading south along Camp Street while the other car a Premio, license plate PNN 7926, was heading west along Lamaha Street.
There were no serious injuries.
