Volleyball in Guyana will continue its busy schedule when the Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) sends a 16-member team (12 players, 4 officials) to compete in an International tournament scheduled for Cayenne, French Guiana from May 28 – June 2, 2014.
The team will depart these shores today, very optimistic that things will go well as they seek to return to these shoes a triumphant unit.
According to the GVF, the team consists of players drawn from Berbice and Demerara and were selected based on their performances at International and local competitions and the level of promise displayed.
The locals will seek to garner as much experience as they possibly can as they face formidable opponents the likes of Martinique, Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname, Brazil and host country, French Guiana.
Team members include, Trevor Mc Rae, Bepaul Bandoo, Creston Rodney, Jason Seelochan, Satesh Seenauth, Shemroy Rose, Ian Bagot, Yoganand Dhoray, Quacy Matheson, Luen David, Kapildev Samaroo and Cleveland Peters.
Guyana also participated in the just concluded Vargas South America Beach Games hosted by the Venezuela Olympic Committee. The Guyana Rugby Football Union also attended these games; Guyana was the only English speaking country.
