A strong 23-man squad with a mixture of experienced and fresh and talented prospects has been named to represent Guyana in its NACRA 15’s Championship clash against Barbados on May 17 at the Garrison Savannah in Barbados.
The players named are: Ryan Gonsalves (Captain), Richard Staglon (Vice Captain),
Chris Singh, Ronald Mayers, Claudius Butts, Rondell McArthur, Rickford Cummings, Grantley Williams, Jason Tyrell, Dwayne Schroeder, Filon Thompson, Clive Powell, Avery Corbin, Theo Henry, Ryan Dey, Delroy Gordon, Jacques Archibald, Jamal Angus, Kevon David, Cyon Kitt, Carl Lewis and Leon Greaves.
Head Coach is Clinton ‘Stiffy’ Clarke of GDF, while the Manager is John Lewis, and Physio-Barrington Browne.
The nationals were involved in a practice game yesterday against a Rest team as they heighten preparations for the NACRA engagement.
The release added that once Guyana defeat Barbados they will then play last season’s Southern Zone winners Trinidad and Tobago on home turf on June 17 in what will be considered as the virtual final.
The squad is scheduled to wing out to Barbados on two flights on Wednesday and Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the selection committee Mike McCormack will join Head Coach, Captain and Manager to answer questions at a Press Conference which will be held at the GOA building, before departure.
