The call for an ambulance at the Kwakwani, Region Ten hospital has been answered by the Kwakwani Natural Resource Organization (KNRO) in collaboration with the Guyana Forestry Commission (GFC).
Yesterday, a minibus which was converted into an ambulance and other medical supplies were donated to the hospital during a simple ceremony held in the compound.
Those who attended the handing over were the Regional Vice Chairman Byron Lewis; Asst Regional Executive Officer, Narine; Staffers of the Linden Hospital Complex, residents of the community and officers from the GFC and KNRO.
Kaieteur News was told that since the establishment of the KNRO, $40M was spent on projects within the community in an effort to develop the mining and logging district. The ambulance was one of its latest projects.
Lewis spoke about the historical aspect of the venture and that of KNRO being the first organization to make such a significant contrition in the area.
Community Leader, Jocelyn Morian, thanked representatives of the organizations for making such a contribution.
She spoke about the care and protection of the ambulance and the road it has to traverse to get to Linden. The one recently sent by the Ministry of Health is already down for repairs.
KNRO was established in 2012 with the objective of being involved in Mining, Forestry and Agriculture.
