Achievers ‘B’ served their way to victory in the Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) Division 3 round-robin competition which was played on Saturday last.
Taking the second place position was University of Guyana, the Guyana Defense Force and Achievers Juniors also participated. The first tow tams were rewarded with cash.
Two female teams; Vanguard and the GDF contested an exciting match that saw the Army girls prevailing as they played with much resolve and character in the two best of three sets showdown.
The first two sets went to 25 points and the last concluding at 15 points. The GDF took the first set 25-23 in a close tussle which gave them a slim advantage; the second set went in favor of Vanguard at 17-25 and the final set saw the GDF sealing the deal 15-10.
Next in line for the GVF will be the inaugural Linden Beach Volleyball Open slated for May 11 in the Bauxite Mining Town of Linden on the Beach Soccer Court. Teams from Berbice and Georgetown will be travelling to Linden for what is anticipated to be a massive competition.
This activity forms part of GVF’s mandate to promote the sport in all parts of Guyana so interested persons can have firsthand view of the game and to showcase the talent of the players in the sport.
Teams are asked to continue training for this event which will show their skills and stamina on a different surface.
Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
