Memorex of Berbice overcame Farm/Regal to win the Trophy Stall sponsored 15- over softball match on Sunday last at the GNIC ground. Regal posted 177-6 in 15 overs after taking first turn at the crease. Avinash Sookdeo stroked 68, while Richard Latiff scored 52 and Lennon Marks 32. Vivian DaSilva snared 3-30.
Memorex replied with 177-7 in 15 overs. Balram Samaroo slammed 56; Roy Jaferally scored 32 and David Lukenauth 31. Samaroo and Lukenauth added 56 for the third wicket after Memorex lost a few early wickets. Samaroo and Jafferally entertained the small but vocal fans with a wide array of shots as they put together a further 46 for the fourth wicket stand.
With two runs needed from the final ball, Samaroo was run out attempting a second run which pushed the game into the super over. Sarfaz Esau picked up 2-30. In the super over, Memorex batted first and scored 15-1 while regal responded with 8-2.
