GAPF Claude Charles Memorial, Intermediate and Masters fixed for June 22…
Just off the heels of a successful Novice and Junior championship, the executive of the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPF) recently met and decided on a date for the Claude Charles Memorial Intermediate and Masters Championships.
The date decided on is Sunday June 22 at the George Walcott Lecture Theatre, University of Guyana, Turkeyen Campus, East Coast Demerara.
Registration will commence on May 2 and end on June 13. In keeping with regional and international trends, no late registration would be permitted.
Athletes interested in competing can contact any member of the GAPF; forms can also be uplifted at Basic Beauty Saloon, North Road. A registration fee of $1,000 would be charged for athletes who have not yet competed for the year.
Gyms that have not yet had athletes compete for the year will also be required to pay an affiliation fee of $1,000 to the GAPF.
Meanwhile, faithful corporate partner, Fitness Express has already committed its support for this event according to the GAPF which described Manager/Owner Jamie Mc Donald as a long standing and reliable supporter of powerlifting in Guyana.
The GAPF has also indicated that they have identified a team that will represent Guyana at the Caribbean Powerlifting Championships set for St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands from July 8 – 13, next.
More details on the composition of the team will be released shortly according to the federation.
