The Commissioner of Police (COP) Inter Division t20 Cricket Competition, sponsored by C. Persaud Dental Clinic and Laboratory, continued yesterday with ‘E’ division getting a walk-over from ‘C’ division at the Guyana defence Force ground and Headquarters beating ‘B’ division by seven wickets at Eve Leary.
With dark ominous clouds hovering overhead and strong winds blowing, the game was reduced to a 12-over per-side-affair and Headquarters rattled up 81-5 when their overs expired on the heavy outfield.
Police first division batsman Troy Benn scored a confident 31 and got support from Sheldon Agard who chipped in with 17.
Brentnol Woolford took 2-8 for ‘B’ division who reached 82-3 with six balls to spare.
Philburg Wilburg top-scored with an accomplished 51 decorated with four fours and three sixes. He got good support from Kevin Griffith who made 12 as former National under-19 fast bowler Seon Daniels took 2-6 from his allotted three overs.
Today Officers come up against TSU at Eve Leary from 13:00hrs, while at GDF, ‘G’ division face off with ‘D’ division from 14:00 hrs. The competition continues on Saturday. (Sean Devers)
