Adams, Khemraj hit half centuries
Zeelandia, Sans Souci and Maria’s Pleasure recorded victories when the Wakenaam Neighbourhood Democratic Council/ Regal Stationery and Computer Centre T/20 cricket competition commenced on Sunday last.
In zone A, at Zeelandia, the host defeated Good Success by six wickets in the morning fixture. Good Success batted first and scored 110 all out in 17.3 overs. Jaggernauth Manbodh made 14, Lokram Narine and Chandrika Ragnauth 13 each. Dharmendra Pooran, Hemraj Pooran and Navishaul Pooran claimed two wickets each. Zeelandia replied with 112-4 in 10 overs. Ricardo Adams stroked 79 (1×4,11×6) while Ryan Adams made 18 not out. Narine and Imran Khan snared two wickets for 30 and 35 runs respectively.
Zeelandia overcame Sans Souci Jaguars by seven wickets in the afternoon game. Batting first the Jaguars scored 144 all out in 19 overs. Zameer Zaman blasted 58 off just 19 balls with six sixes while Jairam Ramadeen and Moin Khan made 20 and 16 respectively.
Hemraj Pooran, Ricardo Adams and Ryan Adams captured two wickets each.
The home team responded with 145-3 in 17 overs. Jaspaul Gangaram and Navishaul Pooran led with 30 apiece while Ricardo Adams scored 20. Moin Khan and Siddiq Mohamed had one each. Zeelandia have qualified for the semi finals.
In Zone B, at 09:30 hrs, Sans Souci got the better of Maria’s Pleasure by 73 runs at the Wakenaam Community Centre ground. Sans Souci took first turn at the crease and rattled up 191-7 in 20 overs. Gurnauth Khemraj top scored with 79 (7×4,5×6), Tulsiram Ramadeen scored 39 and Seon Venture 36. Lenard Lewis picked up 2-16 and Bernard Lewis 2-34.
Maria’s Pleasure were bowled out for 106 in 18.3 overs in reply. Reyaz Ally made 24 and Bernard Lewis 20. Devon Rambaran captured 3-7, David Fraser 2-18 and Jermaine Wolf 2-18.
At 13:30 hrs, Maria’s Pleasure beat Noitgedacht by four runs. Maria’s Pleasure scored 147-8 in 20 overs, batting first. Samuel (only name given) made 38 (3×6) and Bernard Lewis 18. Matthew Chung and Curtis Clementson had two wickets each.
Noitgedacht were skittled for 103 in 17 overs in response. Omal Bacon made 18, Clementson 17 and Jaleel Brown 16; Bernard Lewis claimed 2-16 and Samuel 2-21.
The competition continues tomorrow with Good Success facing Sans Souci Jaguars at 09:30 hrs and Sans Souci playing Noitgedacht at 13:30 hrs. Both games are fixed for the Wakenaam Community Centre ground.
