The Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GMSA) yesterday completed its two-part Annual General Meeting (AGM) and election of the Board of Directors for 2014/2015.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Guyana National Industrial Company (GNIC), Clinton Williams, was re-elected by the new Board to serve as President. He previously held this portfolio in 2010, 2011, and 2013, according to the association.
Chief Executive Officer of Sterling Products Ltd., Ramsay Ali, was also re-elected 1st Vice President; Luanna Persaud of Qualfon (Guyana) will serve a second term as 2nd Vice President while Autamaram Lakeram of the National Milling Company is 3rd Vice President.
The association said that it has also resuscitated its Policy and Legislation Standing Committee which will be headed by accountant/attorney-at-law/journalist, Christopher Ram.
Eon Caesar, Managing Director of Safeway Security Solutions, will head the Security and Governance Committee which the Board of Directors had reinstated in November last year.
According to Williams in a statement expressing his gratitude, the GMSA had begun a number of projects and interventions which must be satisfactorily completed for the benefit of the membership.
He noted that the 5.2% growth recorded in 2013, though minimally improved from the flat rate of 4% in recent years, was still not reflective of the true capacity of the Guyanese manufacturing sector.
“Seeking out and lobbying for more technical and financial support locally and internationally will remain a key agenda item in this fiscal year,”
Also elected to the board were Peter Pompey, Construction and Engineering; Ramesh Dookhoo, Agro-Processing; Malisa Nokta, Environmental Management Services; George Bulkan, Forestry and Wood Products; Gregory De Gannes, Fast Foods; Clement Duncan, International Trade Committee; Mark Bender, Raymond Ramsaroop, Yonette Jeffers, Laparkan Trading and Brian James.
Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
