The University of Guyana (UG) Inter-Faculty T20 cricket competition continued yesterday at the UG ground, Turkeyen with Natural Sciences defeating Health Sciences by one run in an exciting finish.
Natural Sciences fell for 106 in 14 overs, Trevon Henry (35) and Michael Shalim (18) led the way with the bat. Rajendra Singh, Dorian Best and Kwame Vieira had two wickets each.
Health Sciences ran out of overs and also fell one short of the opposition’s score with their last pair at the crease in a thrilling climax to contest.
Fiaz Mustapha was the top bat with 52 and was supported by Vishal Kanhai who made 15. Shamar Muntu returned figures of 3-18 off 3 overs while Anthony Divar and lone female player Divya Hemraj captured two wickets each.
The defending champions are Faculty of Social Sciences and the competition is scheduled to continue today with two matches. Monday’s matches were washed out.
