Reuben Stoby representing the Media and Adel Morian-Callender from Guyana Power & Light Company easily won their respective categories when Grace Kennedy Remittance Services (GKRS) held its Stakeholders Fun Run over 1600 metres on Sunday from Sherriff Street and Rupert Craig Highway to the Seawall Bandstand.
Stoby and Morian-Callender led home a fair-sized field of starters over the finish line to cart off the gold medals and hampers which were presented to them by Marketing Manager Natheeah King- Mendonca on behalf of the Company.
In the men’s segment, Stoby beat into second place Akeem Bowen of Guardians Basketball Club and Akeem Johnson, while for the Ladies Morian- Callender held off Tonia Marks and Ninia Benjamin respectively.
Also taking to the starting line were individuals from Private and Public Sector entities along with fitness enthusiasts.
According to a release from GKRS, the aim of the Run, which was the first of its kind to be hosted by the company, was to engage stakeholders in a fun, but meaningful and healthy way, adding that when persons choose to live healthy lifestyles, they will be more effective and efficient at work.
The release encouraged individuals to adapt healthy eating habits and exercise daily so that they can make a valuable contribution not only to their respective organisations of work, but to the wider society.
The company in the past had hosted cricket and football matches and dominoes competitions and games night as part of its stakeholders event.
