Rising Stars and Invaders Masters recorded victories when the South Essequibo Cricket Committee 40-overs competition commenced on Sunday last with two matches at Pomona.
Rising Stars defeated Jaguars by 67 runs. Rising Stars batted first and piled up 237. Devon Ramnauth stroked 75 while Jagdesh Dindyal slammed 54.
Chandi Jiaram, Tameshwar Deonarine, R. Ragoobar, and S. Jagmohan picked up two wickets each. El-Dorado were bowled out for 170 in response. Anil Persaud made 41 and Ramnarine Ragoobar 38.
Invaders Masters overcame Jaguars by 66 runs in the second encounter. Invaders Masters took first strike and were bowled out for 189. Captain Linden Daniels led with 41, Rajesh Gopaul scored 36 and Roy Gonsalves 34.
Jaguars were bundled out for 123 in reply. Nissan Khan cracked 55 while Devanand Madho bagged 5-25 and Rajesh Gopal 3- 23. The competition continues on Sunday.
