New Amsterdam Multilateral School (NAMS) eked out a hard fought 2-1 victory over Canje Secondary School (CSS) when play in the fourth edition of the Berbice leg of the Scotiabank/Pepsi Football competition continued on Tuesday at the Esplanade Ground, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
The CSS team opened the scoring in the 15th minute against the run of play when Shane Hamilton took a free kick just outside the 20 yards box that eluded the wall and keeper and flew into the net. NAMS was able to level the score one minute before half time when Nkomo Smith blasted home one from close range.
The deadlock was broken in the 56th minute when Chad Henry scored from the penalty spot to send NAMS ahead.
The Berbice leg of the competition continues today when Vryman’s Erven Secondary School (VESS) take on Tutorial Academy Secondary School (TASS) at Esplanade Park.
