It was a day that young Matthew Vieira would never forget as he took full advantage of the absence of seasoned competitors to dominate the Superbike, during the staging of the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club Meet which ended yesterday, before a fair-sized crowd, at the South Dakota Circuit.
Vieira won all three Superbike races to be voted champion rider as he produced a flawless display that will surely send jitters up the spines of his more seasoned opponents heading into the next Meet.
Other outstanding performances of the day was registered by current Group 4 champion Kevin Jeffrey, who raced unbeaten in all three races in the category, while Shairaz Roshandin duplicated his feat in Group 2A and Rameez Mohamed secured two first places in Group 2B to cap off a solid day’s performance.
However, the day was robbed of the absence of the Group 3 drivers and the professional Superbikers who were a no-show on the grid.
In the first Group 4 race, Jeffrey led from pole to lead into second place Mark Vieira, while Viskok Persaud in his Subaru Impreza ended third.
The next Group 4 event saw Jeffrey once again lead from pole and never relinquished his advantage to come home ahead of Vieira and Andrew King.
The final race in the category saw Jeffrey start from the back of the pack and he obliterated the field, picking off the front runners one by one until he lastly overtook Vieira and stormed clear for a decisive win to stay unbeaten throughout the day.
Young Matthew Vieira was similar in his demolition of his opponents as he too lead from start to finish in all three races.
The full results will be made available in the next issue.
