Uitvlugt romped to a comfortable 3-0 win over Vreed-en-Hoop and in the process won Group ‘A’ as well as qualify for the semi finals of the National Association of Women Football Under-17 eight-team Inter Secondary School competition being contested on the West Demerara.
Suwanda Samuels opened proceedings for Uitvlugt in the 8th minute; her effort was complimented by Shamika Marcus and Shontell Greene in the 40th and 60th minute, respectively.
The score-line could have read much differently were it not for the efforts of Vreed-en-Hoop’s goalkeeper, Elizabeth Bernard who thwarted many attempts by the hungry Uitvlugt players.
Uitvlugt topped their group with a total of 9 points followed by St. Johns which tallied 6 points; both teams are through to the semi finals of the competition.
Preliminary round action was scheduled to continue yesterday at the West Demerara Secondary School ground when West Demerara played host to Zeeburg.
The final preliminary round match will be contested on Monday at the Den Amstel Community Centre Ground with Stewartville coming up against Leonora in what is anticipated to be an intriguing tussle.
