As the American University of Research continues its ‘Suicide Prevention and Self Awareness Mission’, Miss India Worldwide, Alana Seebarran has agreed to get onboard as the University’s ambassador to take the social issue international.
The American University will be hosting a special conference today to present Ms. Seebarran, who will be championing the initiative by promoting it internationally and locally.
The American University has noted its concern with the continued occurrence of suicide attempts and undertook to earnestly work towards addressing the issue. It recently concluded a research study on the Essequibo Coast and plans to visit other communities to continue its work. By month end new measures will be in place to assist potentially suicidal persons.
Ms. Seebarran was crowned Miss India /Guyana in 2011 and went on to win Miss India Worldwide in Suriname.
