Guyana’s team to the South American Games taking place in Santiago Chile has been acclimatizing well to date according to Chef-de-Mission Gokarn Randhani.
The team arrived in Chile on March 5 ahead of competition which will get cracking tomorrow. The team participated in the traditional Flag Raising ceremony on March 6 where gifts were also exchanged between the participating countries.
Ramdhani presented a special gift to the Director of the Games. The opening ceremony took place on March 7 where the teams witnessed the lighting of the Games’ Torch and an impressive display of fireworks.
Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) President, K. A Juman Yassin also attended the opening ceremony and met with the team to offer words of encouragement ahead of the competition.
The coaches, Terrence Poole (Boxing) and Lyndon Wilson (Athletics) have been taking their charges through the paces daily.
The Technical Meetings for the Coaches will be held tomorrow.

Boxers – Eon Brancroft, Dennis Thomas, Theresa London; Coach Terrence Poole.
Athletes – Winston George, Cleveland Forde, Cleveland Thomas, Wayne Harlequin, Alisha Fortune; Coach Lyndon Wilson.
