– Five floats showcased
Berbicians will soon have to decide if the usual February activity will still be known as Mashramani Float Parade and Costume Band competition since the amount of floats on the road is significantly dwindling each year.
This year’s Mashramani celebration in New Amsterdam which was held last Sunday is being described by many as “one big street lime and party.”
The activity was largely ignored by the private sector with approximately six floats participating.
Only the Ministries of Health, Amerindian Affairs, Culture Youth and Sport and the Regions Five and Six administration showcased floats, while the Ansa Mc Al entourage had a costume band only.
The activity which started late, ended in the vicinity of the State House.
The Ministry Of Culture Youth and Sports entourage which included a number of trucks and mini buses, decided to cut short it’s journey, divert through a ‘side street’ and disappear.
Thousands of spectators however turned out to enjoy the festivities.
